About the PI

Dr. Sadhukhan started his research career as a graduate student in the laboratory of Professor Munishwar Nath Gupta at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi). Upon receiving M.Sc. in Chemistry from IIT Delhi, he went on to pursue Ph.D. in Chemical Biology at Case Western Reserve University, USA with Professor Gregory P. Tochtrop aiming to understand the biological fates of various lipids as well as some common drugs of abuse. To further expand the expertise in Chemical Biology, he moved to Cornell University, USA for his postdoctoral training with Professor Hening Lin. The central theme of his research career has always been to apply chemistry lessons to understand and resolve biological problems. Thus, his research works have largely been interdisciplinary in nature spanning from pure synthetic organic chemistry to animal biology in disease models, and he is closely following the same trajectory in his independent career as well.

In the summer of 2017, he joined the Discipline of Biosciences & Biomedical Engineering (BSBE) at Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT Indore) as an Assistant Professor. Later, in July 2019 he moved to the Department of Chemistry at Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad (IIT Palakkad) as an Assistant Professor. His research is focused on developing novel chemical biology tools to further advance the understanding of the regulatory mechanism of important post-translational modifications (PTMs) by designing small molecule modulators as well as activity-based probes.
